it's never too late to live happily ever after [10 Jun 2008|11:56am]

[ music | keeping up with the kardasians ]

Goodbye livejournal, hello tumblr? I have not written in my livejournal in quite some time, and honestly I am not the same person that I was when I started it five years ago. I am no longer SetOnRepeat. I am in a different place now. I have grown. I am beginning to find out who I am, what my purpose is. It is not to say I do not miss who I was then because I do, but not nearly as much as the people I was around when I was that person. I miss them greatly. I often find myself reminiscing about those times. I miss the open mics, the concerts, the car rides, the mall trips. I miss Nick, Justin, Pat, Courtney, the BHC, Joe, Chap, Nora, and most of all Ben. All these people played a major role in my life during the past five years. Silly Hats Only, Mandy Moore dances, singing Taking Back Sunday in the back of vans, singing the acoustic Fallout Boy album down winding roads, Damien Rice and Nick Drake on night drives, writing and playing songs in cemeteries in Shortsville, reading plays at the lake, playing house while house sitting... these are some of my fondest memories. My life then was coasting. I was lost but now, I am found.

Fast forward to where I am now. I'm living in Rochester with Greg and the cutest person in a puppy's body, Preston Meyers Flannery. This past year of school, I got a 4.0 the first semester and a 3.95 the second semester. My cumulative gpais 3.972. I'm majoring in Psychology. I joined the campus activities board where I met some great people, especially Kristen, Anthony and Chyna who have become some of my best friends. I went to St. Louis for a convention. I got to meet Caroline Rhea, Howie Day and Cary Brothers. I got to see some of the best performers, musicians, comedians on the college circuit right now. I helped book Pauly Shore as the homecoming headliner for October.

Now it is summer. I am in need of a job. In my down time I decided to create the tumblr to help pass the time. With all this free time I do a lot of thinking and I come up with a lot of lists, lots of lists. I will probably post them and whatever random thoughts I have on there.

I'm going to the NACA conference in St. Louis until Wednesday. I know it's supposed to be an educational trip but I'm just excited about seeing/meeting:

Howie Day
Caroline Rhea
Anthony Rapp from Rent
Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell
LANCE BASS

This is my first time flying and I am unbelievably scared. I've been crying uncontrollably because I am a big baby. Greg's mom bought me all of the weekly trashy magazines to read on the plane. I hope it helps.

You should probably read this book... [06 Nov 2007|08:17am]

[ music | the humming of the air conditioner ]

I am reading an amazing book that I think anyone who is a musician or just loves music and really psychology should read. It's called "This Is Your Brain On Music - The Science of Human Obsession" by Daniel J. Levitin. I strongly suggest it to everyone.

Here's a quick review about it From Publishers Weekly Starred Review.

Think of a song that resonates deep down in your being. Now imagine sitting down with someone who was there when the song was recorded and can tell you how that series of sounds was committed to tape, and who can also explain why that particular combination of rhythms, timbres and pitches has lodged in your memory, making your pulse race and your heart swell every time you hear it. Remarkably, Levitin does all this and more, interrogating the basic nature of hearing and of music making (this is likely the only book whose jacket sports blurbs from both Oliver Sacks and Stevie Wonder), without losing an affectionate appreciation for the songs he's reducing to neural impulses. Levitin is the ideal guide to this material: he enjoyed a successful career as a rock musician and studio producer before turning to cognitive neuroscience, earning a Ph.D. and becoming a top researcher into how our brains interpret music. Though the book starts off a little dryly (the first chapter is a crash course in music theory), Levitin's snappy prose and relaxed style quickly win one over and will leave readers thinking about the contents of their iPods in an entirely new way.

Seriously, look for this book the next time you're at Barnes and Nobles or Borders.

This book is amazing - read it!

Nick Maynard, I must thank you for finding that book since we only went into Barnes and Nobles to see if you were working on Sunday and I can across this book.

Hairspray is amazing. Go see it. Besides Waitress, it's definitely the best movie I've seen this year.

I'd like to help for Earth Day - World Wildlife Fund fundraising [27 Mar 2007|07:53am]

Coinstar estimates that there is more than $10 billion in change sitting idle in American homes. It's time for change, so why not put this spare change to work this Earth Day? I am collecting coins from now until Earth Day (April 22nd) to help the World Wildlife Fund protect the future of nature. If anyone is willing to help out and give me a little of their extra change that would be great! If we each make a little change, together we can make a big difference.

Reese Witherspoon was the prettiest person at the Academy Awards last night. She was just stunning. Her hair color was fantastic. Clive Owen gets my award for best looking male. Not only is he a looker, that man knows how to put together an outfit.

Tonight Greg and I went to see Because I Said So. While waiting in the lounge we saw a boy and a girl on a bench eating popcorn with a whole bunch of it spilled on the floor beneath them. As we came up to get our ticket stubs ripped I looked at the people on the bench and the boy was none other than Teddy Geiger! He's much better looking in real life than he is in pictures or on the screen. Oh yeah, and the movie was super cute and funny. I love Mandy Moore forever.

Greg's been making me earrings - Maurices (turtles), hippos and sailboats. I made a pair of just red dots and I have to finish up these cute ladyface earrings.

Here's what the Maurice earrings look like:
Greg made me earrings

Jen called me today after I got home from work. It was unexpected but good. We haven't talked in a while and last October we had a bunch of fun together. It was the only thing that really made me happy in the last two days. I've been in a wretched mood for no reason at all and I can't seem to shake it :( .

Oh and I really like the two singles Jessica Simpson has out - A Public Affair and I Belong to Me. I downloaded the rest of the album but I haven't listened to it yet. Usually she has 3 or 4 good songs on an album and the rest suck. Let's hope this isn't the case.

And here is a picture just for fun. Nora decided I'd make a saucy red head and turned me into Mab.

Footprints and fallen leaves, these are the kind of things lovers think of... [10 Oct 2006|01:59am]

[ music | Number One Fan - There Goes the World ]

Cartel was amazing. I was very impressed. Their set wasn't too long, luckily they're coming back in like February I think? Megan and her friend hung out with me and Greg during the show. I adore Megan. It made me happy that she liked Greg.

I bought the apple thermal I wanted from Delias at the store in the Buffalo Mall. Greg and I ate at Jack Astors. There were a bunch of staff people waiting by the door and they complimented my dinosaur shirt. A few minutes after we were seated a girl from the group came over and told us that they had a talk and decided that Greg and I are the cutest couple *pause* ever. It was nice. I was embarrassed and turned red. Greg teased me because apparently I couldn't stop smiling.

Saturday we ate lunch with his parents then we went to two costume shops. We're not going to be power rangers anymore, now we're going to be Peter Pan and Tink because of my new fascination with fairies. I tried on one that I really liked but it was way too big on me in the back but the rest fit. We're going to make our own costumes but I also want to go back and get that and try to adjust it because I liked it so much.

Sunday I went with him to water polo and I started and finished Ruby that day.

OO, Thursday I started reading I Was A Teenage Fairy and got 60 pages into it before hanging out with Greg. That night he read to me 60 pages before and 60 pages after we went to Bazils. I fell asleep after about 8 pages after he started reading again but he still read it out loud til he finished the book. How amazing is he? Eat your heart out.

Today after he got out of class we watched two episodes of Ugly Betty that he downloaded for me and then we went on a walk down Park Ave and then to the Wegman's on East Ave and back home. It was beautiful. I put bunch-a-crunch in some guys shoes by the side of the road and I spilled some as we were walking and we'd stop to watch to see if birds and squirrels would eat them. The best part was when a person was walking their dog and the dog stopped to eat them.

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

I read three Francesca Lia Block books since last Monday. I started reading her books in August and so far I read 11. I have five more on hold at the library and then I have just three books left of hers to read after that. Her books are my new best friend. I feel like I need her words to breathe. I'm going to feel so lost when I'm done reading all her books, sort of like that week I watched all 6 seasons of Sex and the City and then had to return the DVDs to the library. I become too involved with fictional characters but they seem more real to me than some people do. I prefer books to people.

Before I started reading FLB books, I was reading Running With Scissors. I wanted to read it before the movie comes out and I'm 30 pages into it and I have two weeks to finish. If I can read three books in one week, this should be a piece of cake. The only hard part is I've become so familar with FLB writing style it's going to be difficult to adjust to someone elses.

Now I'm going to go to bed so I can wake up and read. Goodnight lovelies.

29. Amy Story could probably single handedly take over the whole school
30. They shut off the effing heat in the winter and expect us to not where our jackets on days when its like -500 degrees out.. then when it actually is 80 in the summer and there is no AC the administration wonders why all the girls are in tank tops.. idiots
